Applications

Acrylic Polyimide Tape is a practical non-silicone option for applications where silicone contamination should be minimized. It combines the heat resistance and electrical insulation of polyimide film with the stable bonding performance of an acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive.

Electronics Assembly & PCB Manufacturing (Silicone-Free)

  • Wave Solder Masking: Used for high-temperature masking in PCB manufacturing, including gold finger and selected contact-area protection.
  • Process Protection in Non-Silicone Environments: A suitable option for selected electronics assembly processes where silicone contamination is a concern.
  • Fine Wire and Lead Fixing: Helps secure fine wires, leads, or insulation layers in compact electronic assemblies.

EV & Lithium-ion Battery Insulation

  • Cell and Tab Insulation: Used in selected battery-pack and cell-assembly applications for electrical insulation, edge protection, and part fixing.
  • Sensor or Material Fixing: Can be used to secure selected insulating materials, sensors, or components where a non-silicone adhesive system is preferred.
  • Process Validation Recommended: Chemical compatibility should always be confirmed against the actual electrolyte system, dwell conditions, and substrate materials.

Electrical Insulation (Motors, Transformers & Coils)

  • Class F (155°C) Insulation: High-performance insulation for lead wire reinforcement, phase insulation, and coil end-turns.
  • Varnish & Resin Compatibility: Exceptional resistance to impregnating resins and cleaning solvents used in motor manufacturing, ensuring the tape doesn’t soften or flag during the baking cycle.
  • Transformer Core Wrapping: Securely holding copper foils and insulation layers in high-frequency transformers.

Acrylic Kapton tape is suitable for insulation layer fixing, component protection, battery module insulation support, and busbar area protection where stable adhesion and polyimide film performance are required.

Yes. We offer custom widths and converting formats. For adhesive type, acrylic PSA is standard for this product; silicone adhesive PI tapes are available as separate grades.

Will acrylic Kapton tape leave residue after removal?

Residue performance depends on substrate, temperature profile, dwell time, and removal method. We recommend validating with samples under your real process conditions.

Is it suitable for high-temperature masking or soldering processes?

Many customers use PI film tapes for masking and protection. Suitability depends on your exact temperature/time profile and chemicals used (flux/cleaners). Please request the TDS and test a sample.

Do you provide free samples?

Yes, samples are available for evaluation. Share your thickness, width, temperature profile, and substrate, and we’ll recommend the best grade.

Is acrylic polyimide tape silicone-free (non-silicone)?

Many acrylic polyimide tapes are available in non-silicone formulations to help reduce the risk of silicone contamination in downstream processes (e.g., bonding, conformal coating). If “silicone-free” is a strict requirement, request non-silicone confirmation for the exact grade you are purchasing.

What temperature can acrylic polyimide tape handle vs. silicone polyimide tape?

Acrylic-adhesive polyimide tapes commonly have continuous temperature ratings around 155°C / 311°F (grade-dependent). Choose the adhesive system based on your temperature-time profile and process chemicals; request the TDS to confirm the rating for the exact grade.
