Cross Filament Tape(F-370)

Cross Filament Tape for Palletizing, Bundling & Heavy Carton Reinforcement

Cross Filament Tape (also called bi-directional filament tape or cross-weave filament tape) is a reinforced industrial tape designed for packaging, bundling, palletizing, and load securing applications that require strength in both the machine and cross directions. The standard F-370 construction features a PET film backing with a cross-woven matrix of continuous fiberglass filaments laminated into the carrier, combined with a synthetic rubber pressure-sensitive adhesive.

This product bridges the gap between standard packing tape and mechanical strapping, offering multi-directional reinforcement for pallet stabilization, heavy carton reinforcement, bundling, and export packaging where resistance to tearing and delamination is critical.

One-Line

Cross Filament Strapping Tape — bi-directional filament reinforced tape for palletizing, heavy carton reinforcement, pipe bundling, and other high-holding packaging applications. Request samples and TDS for evaluation.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Bi-directional strength — cross-woven filament grid provides both longitudinal and transverse reinforcement to resist tearing and propagation of nicks.
  • High holding power — the standard synthetic rubber adhesive provides fast initial tack on corrugated board and many common packaging substrates.
  • Low elongation, high burst resistance — excellent dimensional stability under compressive and shear loads.
  • Variants for different use cases — single-sided grades are used for strapping, bundling, palletizing, and carton reinforcement; related constructions may be available for other industrial applications on request.
  • Moisture & abrasion resistant backing — the PET film protects the fiberglass reinforcement and helps extend service life during storage, handling, and transit.Low-residue formulations may be available for selected surfaces where post-removal cleanliness is important; suitability should be confirmed by application testing.
  • Conversion & automation ready — available in standard roll formats, jumbo logs, slitted widths and die-cut parts for automated application.

Typical Applications

  • Palletizing & Load Stabilization —used for medium-duty pallet loads where additional load stability and unitization are required.
  • Heavy Carton Sealing & Reinforcement — appliances, electronics, and industrial boxes where tear-through is a risk.
  • Pipe, Tube & Profile Bundling — steel pipe, PVC tubing, curtain rods.
  • Lumber & Building Materials — timber bundles, scaffolding components.
  • Related constructions available on request — double-sided cross filament tape can be supplied for selected mounting, lamination, or fixing applications where reinforcement inside the adhesive structure is needed.
  • Export & Long-Distance Logistics — supports improved load retention during warehousing, intermodal transport, and repeated handling.

Need Help Matching Filament Tape to the Right Application?

Filament tape is used in different ways depending on the packaging risk. If your main problem is carton splitting, pallet movement, edge tearing, or heavy export packaging failure, see our Carton & Pallet Reinforcement Solutions guide for application notes and reinforcement methods.

If your application involves pipes, rods, metal parts, appliance components, furniture parts, or irregular industrial materials, visit our Industrial Material Bundling guide to compare tape selection, wrapping methods, surface conditions, and bundling failure risks before bulk ordering.

For a more accurate recommendation, please send your package weight, surface material, tape width, transport condition, and current failure problem.

Extreme Condition Reliability

  • High-temperature shipping (ocean containers): PET backed cross-filament tapes retain structural integrity and adhesion in container hot spots (can approach 50–60°C); recommend acrylic or specially formulated high-temp adhesive grades for sustained high heat.
  • Wet/humid / tropical climates: moisture-resistant PET backing + proper adhesive selection reduce delamination during long sea voyages.
  • Cold chain & subzero storage: low-temperature adhesive grades maintain tack to around -10 °C; confirm with samples if use case is colder.
  • Edge protection:for sharp edges or abrasive corners, use edge guards or confirm a more suitable construction to reduce the risk of filament damage during transport and handling.

Converting & Customization

  • Widths: 9 mm – 500 mm (standard slits); custom available.
  • Roll lengths: 50 m / 100 m / 500 m / jumbo logs.
  • Core sizes: 3″ (76 mm) standard.
  • Adhesives: Synthetic rubber (fast tack), acrylic (aging/UV resistance).
  • MOQ & Lead time — Samples & small trial runs available; volume pricing for blanket orders .

Quality, Standards & Traceability

  • TDS & Batch Reports: Each production lot can be supplied with Technical Data Sheet and internal QC values.
  • Testing Methods: ASTM D3759, ASTM D3330 are the standard test methods we use for tensile and peel reporting.
  • Traceability: Lot numbers available for qualified orders.

FAQ

What is the difference between cross filament tape and mono filament tape?

Cross filament (bi-directional) has filaments in both machine and cross directions, yielding multi-axis tear resistance. Mono filament has filaments only along the machine direction and gives higher tensile in one axis.

Can cross filament tape replace plastic strapping?

For many medium-duty palletizing and carton reinforcement tasks, cross filament tape is a lighter, faster alternative. For heavy-duty load securing, lifting, or applications requiring higher certified restraint performance, mechanical strapping or other approved securing methods may still be required.

Do you offer double-sided cross filament tape?

Yes — double-coated (adhesive on both sides with a release liner) versions exist and are intended primarily for mounting/lamination tasks rather than typical strapping. Specify intended use to select the correct construction.

How do you validate performance for heat exposure or export shipping?

Validation typically includes peel adhesion, tensile performance, and application-specific aging tests under the expected substrate and storage conditions. For export or sea-freight use, we recommend confirming the adhesive grade through sample trials that simulate your carton surface, load condition, and transport environment.

What filaments are used and how do they affect performance?

Fiberglass filaments are common for highest tensile; PET filaments are used where flexibility and abrasion tolerance are desired. Filament denier and lay-up density directly impact tensile and elongation.

What substrates is the standard synthetic rubber grade best suited for?

The standard grade is typically used on corrugated board, solid board, and many common packaging surfaces where fast initial tack is required. If your application involves low-surface-energy plastics, coated surfaces, or long-term outdoor exposure, confirm the suitable grade before ordering.
