PTFE Film Tape (T-730)

PTFE Film Tape | Skived PTFE Tape for Heat Sealing, Release, Low Friction & Electrical Insulation

Product Overview

PTFE Film Tape is made from skived PTFE film coated with a silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). It is designed for applications requiring a non-stick surface, low friction, chemical resistance, electrical insulation, and reliable performance in elevated-temperature manufacturing environments.

This tape is commonly used on heat sealing equipment, release surfaces, low-friction contact areas, and selected electrical insulation applications where conventional films cannot provide the same combination of surface release, thermal stability, and dielectric performance.

PTFE Film Tape STRUCTURE

Key Features & Benefits

  • Non-Stick PTFE Surface:helps reduce sticking, buildup, and contamination on contact surfaces
  • Low Friction Performance:supports smooth sliding, web movement, and reduced drag in processing equipment
  • Electrical Insulation:suitable for selected wire, cable, coil, and electrical insulation applications
  • Elevated-Temperature Capability:used in high-temperature industrial processes; exact continuous and peak ratings depend on grade and construction
  • Chemical Resistance:PTFE film offers excellent chemical resistance; adhesive compatibility should be confirmed separately for actual process conditions, especially where organic solvents are present
  • Converting-Friendly Supply:available in rolls, sheets, and die-cut parts for production use

Typical Applications

Heat Sealing & Release

  • Release surfaces for packaging equipment and heat sealing machines
  • Non-stick surface protection on hot bars, sealing jaws, and contact areas
  • Release applications in composite molding and other elevated-temperature processes

Low-Friction & Web Processing

  • Low-friction surfaces on rollers, guides, chutes, and sliding contact areas
  • Web handling applications where smooth movement is required
  • Anti-stick, low-drag surfaces in converting and industrial processing

Electrical Insulation

  • Selected insulation and protection for wires, leads and electrical components where the ordered grade provides the required dielectric performance.
  • Dielectric protection in applications requiring PTFE electrical properties and heat resistance
  • High-performance insulation uses where grade-specific breakdown voltage and thickness are important

Chemical & Process Protection

  • Surface protection in process areas where PTFE backing chemistry is required
  • Selected industrial uses involving exposure to chemicals, cleaners, or process residues, subject to compatibility review
  • Applications requiring a clean, low-energy surface rather than aggressive adhesion

PTFE Film Tape applications

PTFE film tape is often selected for heat sealing bars, packaging jaws, and release surfaces where low friction and clean release are required. For sealing machines, impulse sealers, L-bar sealers, and packaging lines, see our Industrial Heat Sealing guide to compare tape selection, temperature exposure, surface release, and replacement timing.

FAQ

What is PTFE film tape mainly used for?

PTFE film tape is mainly used for heat sealing equipment, release surfaces, low-friction processing areas, and selected electrical insulation applications where non-stick performance, heat resistance, and PTFE surface properties are required.

Will PTFE film tape leave residue after removal?

Residue depends on substrate type, temperature, dwell time, removal timing, and process contamination. Always test under real process conditions before approval for residue-critical surfaces.

Is it suitable for high-temperature use?

Yes, but the exact temperature rating is grade-specific. Confirm the continuous and peak temperature rating by TDS for your ordered grade.

Do you provide samples?

Yes. Please share your required thickness, width, application, substrate, and operating temperature profile. We will recommend a suitable grade and provide samples for validation.

Can it be used for electrical insulation in motors, transformers, or coils?

PTFE film tape can be used in selected electrical insulation applications because PTFE offers strong electrical properties and heat resistance. Final suitability should be confirmed by breakdown voltage, thickness, adhesive system, and TDS for the ordered grade.

Is PTFE film tape chemically resistant?

The PTFE film backing is highly chemically resistant, but adhesive compatibility must be checked separately. Full process compatibility should be verified before use, especially in solvent-related environments.

What is the difference between skived PTFE tape and extruded PTFE tape?

Skived PTFE films are commonly chosen when greater conformability is needed. Some extruded PTFE tape constructions are preferred when flatter unwind and reduced curling are more important. Selection should be based on the application, required conformability, and handling behavior.

How can I reduce edge curling during high-temperature use?

Edge curling can be influenced by substrate cleanliness, application tension, temperature exposure, and tape construction. Use consistent application pressure, avoid excessive tension, clean the surface thoroughly, and validate the selected grade under your actual temperature profile.
